Maxis Movies: Buy 1 Free 1

After 3 weeks of being down with cold, finally I am back on my feet again!

Hubby suggested we go for a movie to "welcome" the healthy me. So we booked a pair of tickets to Ang Lee's new movie <The Life of Pie> via Maxis MyLaunchPad to enjoy the Maxis Buy 1 Free 1 movie ticket promotion.

Yoohoo!! Look forward to weekend for some popcorn munching time with hubby and Cedric!

Langkawi Go-Around, Part IV

We did some light and easy go-around during our recent Langkawi Trip.

On the first day, we spent our afternoon shopping at Kuah Town. Kuah town is famous for its duty free shopping, with price about 10-20% cheaper than buying at Langkawi town or the airport. We bought some chocolate, liquor and Luminarc cooking ware for the new home. Generally the price of these items was not much different from shop to shop around Kuah. The cheapest Kinder Bueno we managed to find was RM18.20/pack of 16pcs, Ferrero Rocher RM19.80/box of 30, both about 50% cheaper than main land. For liquor, it is limited to 1L per person, and there will be some extra discount given if paid by cash.

Cedric was bored and hot but well behaved throughout our shopping at Kuah. So the next day, we decided to do some baby friendly activities. We went to Underwater World to see some animals in action. The entrance fee was RM28/adult, and free for children below 3 years old.

We were lucky enough to catch the furseal feeding session at 2:30pm

Huge river monster, but Cedric was not afraid at all!

Our last day in Langkawi, we visited the Temurun Waterfall. I was pretty amazed by the magnitude and beauty of the waterfall. At 40m height, apparently it is the tallest waterfall in Langkawi. The volume of water is seasonal, and the best time to visit is around September-October.

Walking the stairs up to the waterfall was not too strenuous even when I was wearing a baby. But be prepared to get a few mosquitoes bites if insect repellent was not used.

Langkawi, Part III - Pahn Thai Restaurant @ Berjaya Langkawi Island Resort

It was dinner time!

There are 5 restaurants in the resort - Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Beach Restaurant and Dayang Cafe. The most famous and most popular among all is of course the Pahn Thai Restaurant on the sea.

Dining at the Pahn Thai was not all about the taste, as the food was only average in my opinion. What sets it apart is its romantic ambiance. Having dinner at an open air restaurant above the water, with the sound of wave as background music, breeze of the sea kissing your face, while admiring the beautiful sunset was relaxing and romantic. The live band that plays love songs from table to table adds some extra points to the overall wonderful experience.

Langkawi, Part II - Berjaya Langkawi Island Resort

With the help of GPS, we drove along some twisty winding roads, and arrived at Berjaya Langkawi Island Resort about 20 minutes later.

Berjaya Langkawi Resort, Seaview Chalet - RM560/night, included breakfast for 2 (Free upgrade from Rainforest Chalet)
Berjaya Langkawi Resort is a secluded, quiet hotel nestled amidst an old tropical rainforest. From the hotel lobby, we took a 5 minutes shuttle bus ride to our chalet. It was a semi-detached wooden chalet built in the traditional Malay style. It comes with a lovely balcony overseeing the sea, shaded by some old, tall trees. The chances of spotting a monkey is high, so we make sure we close our windows and balcony door properly before we leave the room, or during bed time.

A curious visitor came to check us out
Since the chalet is located in the forest, initially we were quite worried about mosquitoes, but to our pleasant surprise, not a single mosquito bite after our 4-day stay. Perhaps the breeze from the sea helped to keep the mosquitoes away. And so I thank the nice receptionist who was kind enough to upgrade our room from standard Rainforest Chalet to Seaview Chalet free of charge, upon knowing that we come with a baby.

Of our 4 days at Langkawi, we spent most of our time in the resort, chilling out and enjoying the resort facilities. To get to the beach, pool, restaurants, gym and other facilities in the resort, we need to travel by shuttle bus. Luckily the shuttle bus service was quick and efficient, usually it will arrive within 5 minutes after a call. And the resort staff were friendly and helpful too.

Langkawi, Part I

Langkawi here we come!

This was our first holiday trip since we become a family of 3.

I was a Kedah girl, but my last visit to Langkawi was more than 25 years ago. Now with an 8mo baby, we were looking at holidaying in somewhere not too far, where we can spend some quality time together. So Langkawi seems to top the list - near, relaxing, and some shopping for our new home.

The flight from KLIA to Langkawi took about 30 minutes. Once we boarded the plane, I offered Cedric his nen nen, and he dozed off almost immediately until we landed at Langkawi. Yay! A smooth, uneventful first flight!

At Langkawi airport arrival hall, we rented a Nissan X-Gear and started our 4 Days 3 Nights Holiday! Berjaya Langkawi Resort, here we go!

Cedric's Botak Diary, Part II

Cedric's first hair cut by daddy didn't turn out too well.

Notice the disastrous side of the hair?

It was supposed to look like this...

Mommy was heartbroken looking at Cedric's new hair cut. His hair used to be so dark, so full, and so nice...Now it looks like it was munched by rabbit or something...total disaster!!

So here comes another hair cut. This time we went for shaolin monk style - botak head it is.

Are you done?
Why so long mommy...
I don't want to be a botak...

My smile is as shiny as my botak head

It took mommy many days to get over the sadness of turning Cedric into a botak; daddy felt very guilty too and swore he wouldn't try to experiment with Cedric's hair anymore.

Even though the first hair cut attempt was a failure, the lucky thing was Cedric was 8 months old then, not 8 years old or 18 years old...Botak or not, he is still as happy as always. Botak or not, he is still mommy's prince charming, forever...

Cedric's Botak Diary, Part I

Cedric had a head of beautiful dark hair - full, soft and silky smooth.

People sometimes mistaken him as a girl. So one fine Sunday at home, daddy decided that enough is enough, Cedric is a macho boy - it is hair cut time!

Our New Home

Our New Home

Hubby and I have bought ourselves a new home! :D

We are so excited, yet nervous about our new commitment. This is by far our biggest and longest financial commitment. We will be tied up financially for the next 30+ years. But we try to look on the bright side - we will be building a home together, with our lovely Cedric boy! A home sweet home that will shelter us from the rain, the wind, and the sun, a place where we will plant our memories growing old together, and where we celebrate all the ups and down in life with each other.

The purchase was not really pre-planned. We were there at the show room, looking at those mini model houses. The next thing we know, we were at the show house, admiring the beautifully designed interior. The magic of show houses is that it gives you a nice picture of "what if...". What if this is my room...? How nice it would be if I were to enjoy the jacuzzi here every night after work...I want my kitchen this way and that way...Then the "what if" turns into a desire to buy.

After checking out the construction side and other housing projects around the area, we discussed and finally decided that this will be our home for the next 20-30 years. We are quite pleased with our purchase. The house is part of a small gated and guarded community of about 300 houses. We have a small club house with some simple facilities like swimming pool, gym etc. The landscape is tastefully designed with a lot of greenery. I hope it would be a good environment for Cedric to grow up safely and happily.

The house will be ready in Mid 2014. So now it's time for hubby and I to buckle down and work hard for our future home! A home that we will build together, hand in hand.
